The feel of carving lino or paint is just so satisfying and at the same time it never ceases to be challenging. Making art in this way is methodical and can be almost meditative but, by its very nature, it can also be very hit and miss. Printmaking has encouraged me to embrace the unexpected as part of the process and is a huge part of what makes traditional printing so special. It takes time and experience to get the images created on the plate to transfer to the paper in the way that was originally envisioned. It’s an intensively ‘by hand’ process and the joy of creating a perfect print can not be underestimated.
