GUEST EXHIBITIONS
Grahame Morgan-Watson: January 7-February 25 2024
I came to painting and selling my work in 2007, following a retreat that encouraged personal exploration and inner guidance, through meditation and interaction with others. My work had already been of an ‘artistic nature’, working in the organ, piano and musical instrument industry for over 40 years. The creative process always intrigued me. I explored the personal insights that were present in people who were considered creative, and what appeared to be the obstacles for those people that found being creative a challenge.
I am self-taught, and see my Art as ‘play’, exploring different mediums, techniques and styles. I consider it a compliment when people comment that my paintings appear to be by several different artists.
I like texture and bold colours, with some paintings taking several weeks of additional paint, or the addition of textural mediums for me to feel they can be considered finished. For my sculptures as well some wall art, I use stiffened material like canvas or cotton sheets wrapped around a mesh armature, and coated in a product called Parverpol, which hardens to produce a waterproof finish.
Having only moved to Herefordshire in 2020, from West Sussex, I am still finding my feet in this area. My studio in Kerne Bridge was open for the 2022, and 2023 FarOpen Art trail, and the 2023 hArt. I will be exhibiting in again in both during 2024.

Meet The Maker
Grahame will be upstairs at Made in Ross on Sunday, February 11th 2024 between 2pm and 3.30pm. He will be bringing in some of his “works in progress" and demonstrating a few of his creative processes, such as the use of brass and copper filings and pouring medium on metal foil to create interesting effects.
