I have always been interested in art, and I love making with my hands, from sculpting, carving and painting, to working with colourful glass. For me, colour brings great joy, like walking into a beautiful flower garden on a warm, summer day.
I take great pleasure from the whole fused glass process, from the design and choice of colour, to cutting and grinding the individual sections of glass for a perfect fit, and then fusing and slumping the glass in the kiln. Finally seeing the stunning results of a long and complex process brings great satisfaction.....when it works as it should! When a piece is finished, the way the light shines through the glass, or reflects on a window sill or table is both inspiring and uplifting. I also love the feel of the finished glass, which inspired me into making Braille pieces for those with sight challenges. I make my own fused bubbles of glass in a wide range if colours and sizes, then carefully lay them out on glass pieces to spell simple and uplifting messages in Braille. All my glass pieces are unique, one-off , signed works, and designs are never repeated unless as part of a set.
