The Humble Woodshed is the workshop of Gloucestershire maker Mike Lawrence, creating one-of-a-kind clocks, furniture and decorative pieces from wood and resin.
After rediscovering woodworking during a period of personal recovery in 2019, Mike returned to his lifelong passion for carpentry and began shaping it into a focused creative practice. Working from a small garden workshop, he produces handcrafted pieces that celebrate the natural character of timber, often enhanced with carefully poured resin to introduce colour, depth and contrast. Each work is guided by the grain, form and individuality of the wood itself. No two pieces are the same. By combining traditional woodworking skills with contemporary materials, The Humble Woodshed creates functional objects that sit comfortably between craft and art. Local and sustainable hardwoods are used wherever possible, with an emphasis on honest materials and thoughtful design. Every piece is handmade in Gloucestershire and intended to bring a quiet sense of craftsmanship and natural beauty into the home. |
