Made in Ross is moving to it's temporary new home in the Council Offices at the Corn Exchange in March 2024. Restoration work is scheduled to take place on the historic Market House, our current home which means we will be moving the gallery once work is ready to commence. We are not going far though - our new home upstairs in the Corn Exchange (above the Tourist Information Office) is just a stone's throw away from the Market House.

Inspired by Wye: Made in Ross Art Competition, September 2023

On the evening of Friday 22nd September the Made in Ross gallery was packed with artists and their families when the winners of the Inspired by Wye art competition were revealed. Ross on Wye mayor,  Louis Stark presented prizes in three categories to those artists whose work best evoked the river that runs by the town.

The Under 11 award went to 7 year old Nevaeh Bamborough for her beautiful view of the river Wye from Yat Rock. Titled “Grandad’s Home” the painting shows the river and in the distance her grandfather’s childhood house on Coppett Hill. The under 17 prize was awarded to 15-year-old Amelia Boyles for her painting “A View of the Wye”. Showing the famous scene of Ross as seen from the river, the judges particularly admired her use of colour and technical skill.

The Adult prize was given to Agnese Davies for her stunning life size sculpture of a kingfisher made using needle felting technique. The judges thought the detailing was exquisite and showed great skill and patience to achieve such realism. William Rossiter achieved Highly Commended for his beautifully lit photograph of a sleeping mallard duck.

Over 50 local artists entered the competition and the judges, all artists from Made in Ross, shortlisted to a final 18 before choosing the three winners. All the shortlisted works are on display in the Made in Ross gallery upstairs at the Market House until October 30th.
