I studied Art and Design in London in the 1970's and from there started a career in Interior Design, Textiles and Graphics. I later went on to develop an interest in esoteric studies and qualified as a practitioner of vibrational medicine and often use colour as one of my healing modalities.
My inspiration is from nature and my work unites my interest in textiles, light, vibration, colour and often has elements of Native American culture integrated.
I use many different techniques to create my artwork ranging from wet on wet, wax batik, sizing, gutta resists and dry layering together with the effects of salt, alcohol and diluants. I use Habotai 8 and Pongee 5 Silk with either steam fix dyes or iron fix paints. For my eco dye scarves I use flowers, roots and various leaves which I find in my garden.
For all my Silk Jewellery I use Habotai 8 silk and do my own wirework to make the necklaces and earrings unique.
For me Silk art has unique characteristics and holds a fascination of its own, it allows the creation of subtle colour transitions and stunning effects as the dyes move through the body of the fabric.
