I’ve been a painter and printmaker for most of my life but more recently moved into different territories such as ceramics and stained glass, the latter of which has become a firm favourite.
For about eight years, having been tutored by a friend in the art of stained glass, I’ve made windows, small panels and hinged boxes, but last year since moving to the beautiful Wye valley, I’ve channelled a great deal of energy towards making four sided stained glass lights, most of which are translucent versions of my paintings and tell some kind of story.
I will always paint and draw; they are what come naturally to me. I love building large pots and putting my images on them but colour is so important to me and to have light shining though it rather than just on it, as it does with stained glass, is a very exciting progression.
The magic of living on a steep hillside overlooking the River Wye, combined with memories of the sea that I grew up next to and the Wiltshire downland where I’ve spent many years are all pivotal to what I do.
